Search For The Needle Class Tier List

Ultimate Farmer is the only S-tier class because it carries every other class bonus at once. Below it, Demolitionist, Drone Specialist and Forkmaster form the A tier — these are the realistic targets.
All eight classes roll from one wheel at the Classes station for 40 Gems a spin, and the odds are printed under each class name in-game: Starter 40%, Pack Mule 25%, Hay Merchant 14%, Forkmaster 9%, Demolitionist 7%, Prospector 3.9%, Drone Specialist 1%, Ultimate Farmer 0.1%.

How the class system works
Classes are permanent passive archetypes unlocked in the lobby, not in a run. You approach the Classes station and spin, and each spin costs 40 Gems.
You cannot buy a specific class. Every spin is a random pull from the same pool, and once a class is unlocked it stays on your account permanently with no repeat cost.
Gems come from finishing runs, the eight-day login track, the one-time free reward panel and codes. That makes Gems the real long-term currency, since Cash never leaves a run.

S tier — Ultimate Farmer
Ultimate Farmer rolls at 0.1 percent and offers the bonuses of every other class at once — carrying capacity, Pitchfork and Dynamite buffs, better hay sale value, the drone, all of it, without having to choose.
It also has one exclusive mechanic: it can activate Golden Harvest every once in a while. No public source explains what Golden Harvest actually does, and we are not going to guess.
Be realistic about reaching it. At 0.1 percent and 40 Gems a spin, the expected cost is around 1,000 spins, or roughly 40,000 Gems.
A tier — the classes worth chasing
Forkmaster (9%) gives Pitchfork swings 25 percent more hay and cuts Pitchfork upgrade costs by 25 percent. Since the Pitchfork is the tool you finish runs with, both halves compound over an entire clear.
Demolitionist (7%) widens Dynamite blasts by 20 percent and gives charges a 10 percent chance to split into three. It ranks highly because blasted hay lands loose on the ground, letting you clear large sections without your bag filling up.
Drone Specialist (1%) gives you a permanent drone that flies 30 percent faster and carries 40 percent more hay, with an occasional three-drone swarm. It is the rarest class outside Ultimate Farmer and removes manual work rather than speeding it up.
B and C tiers — useful but narrow
Pack Mule (25%) adds 50 percent carry capacity to every bag. It is genuinely useful from your first minute because it cuts trips to the cow, but its value fades once tools rather than hands are doing the clearing.
Hay Merchant (14%) raises money earned from selling hay by 20 percent. More Cash means reaching Dynamite and the Pitchfork sooner, but it does not make you clear any faster on its own.
Prospector (3.9%) makes Diamonds appear 50 percent more often and can turn hay into Diamonds. It generates extra value from hay you were already collecting without improving the clearing itself, which is why it sits in C.
D tier — Starter
Starter is the default class, rolls at 40 percent, and provides no bonuses whatsoever. It is perfectly functional for learning the game and it is what most players will be using.
It is bottom of the list simply because anything else on the wheel does something. There is no reason to keep it equipped once you have unlocked an alternative.
What your Gems realistically buy
A new account's first week can produce around 1,105 Gems — 880 from the eight-day login track, 25 from the free reward panel, and 200 from the ALIEN code. That is about 27 spins.
Across 27 spins, landing at least one A-tier class is close to certain, since Forkmaster, Demolitionist and Drone Specialist together account for 17 percent of the wheel. Landing Ultimate Farmer in that window is about 2.7 percent.
So the honest framing is this: plan around getting an A-tier class, and treat Ultimate Farmer as something that either happens to you or does not.
A note on these rankings
The roll chances and class effects on this page are facts, visible in game and confirmed by two independent sources. The tier letters are an opinion — Beebom's, which we have reproduced because their criterion, usefulness during a typical haystack clear, is the right one.
Where we would push back slightly: Pack Mule is arguably stronger than B for a brand-new account, because the walk to the cow dominates the early game far more than tool efficiency does.
