Chapter 2 has four steps in a fixed order: dig the key out of the haystack, pull three colour-coded levers to open the hidden puzzle room, solve the three puzzles inside to free the Alien and switch off the lasers, then climb the ladder and use the key on the trapdoor.

The step people get stuck on is the last one. Having the key is not enough — red laser traps block the ladder until the puzzles are done, so the exit stays sealed no matter how early you find the key.

How Chapter 2 starts

Chapter 1 ends with the farmer shoving you into the basement and throwing the key into the hay. Chapter 2 picks up from exactly there, so your starting position is the bottom of a locked room with a fresh pile to dig through.

There are two objectives running at once. The obvious one is the key. The second, which the game does not spell out clearly, is freeing the Alien locked in a cell on the far side of the room — and that second objective is what actually unlocks the exit.

Step 1 — Find the basement key

Finding the key works exactly like finding the needle in Chapter 1: it is buried in the pile and only turns up as you clear hay. There is no marker, no sound cue and no way to narrow down where it sits.

That makes tooling the whole game here. Dynamite is the tool to save for, because it clears a wide area in one go rather than chipping away by hand. The Vacuum is the other big-area option, and together they cut this step down dramatically.

If you are still on hand upgrades, get Hold first and two levels each of Grasp and Speed before you start saving for Dynamite. Running the dig with a bare hand is what turns this step into a slog.

Step 2 — Pull all three levers

Three colour-coded levers open the door to the hidden puzzle room. You do not need to find them by wandering — there are coloured wires running along the floor, and each wire leads to its matching lever.

LeverWhere to find it
GreenDirectly behind the haystack, tucked in among a cluster of boxes
RedBy the Sell Hay cart — follow the red wire and look behind the Sell board
PurpleBeside the Alien's jail cell, right next to the drone equipment

All three have to be pulled before the puzzle room door will open. If the door is still shut, you have missed one — the red lever is the one people walk past most, because the Sell board hides it from the direction you usually approach.

Step 3 — Solve the three puzzles

Inside the puzzle room are three separate puzzles, and all three regenerate every run. There is no fixed answer to memorise and no code that works for everybody — what transfers between runs is the method, not the solution.

  1. Crystals — head left as you enter. Count the red, green and purple crystals set into the room's walls, then enter each total on the number pad beneath the matching coloured pedestal. Three purple crystals means clicking the purple pedestal's number three times.
  2. Keypad code — the combination is written on one of the papers scattered across the floor. Only one paper has it, so you have to check them until you find it, then punch it into the keypad lock.
  3. Picture puzzle — a 16-piece scrambled image. Some pieces start in the right place already. Do the corners and edges first, then fill the middle against them.

Finishing all three opens the Alien's cell and shuts down the laser trap covering the ladder. Until that happens, the ladder is unusable.

Step 4 — Escape

Equip the basement key, walk to the ladders leading up to the basement door, and climb. That triggers the ending cutscene.

In the cutscene you climb out, find the Alien you freed waiting for you, and it points upward. Your character looks up at a giant UFO overhead, which beams you up and ends the chapter. Completing it awards the Finished Chapter 2! badge.

How hard is Chapter 2 really?

Harder than most players expect. Roblox badge data shows Finished Chapter 2! has gone to 1,025,828 accounts against 13,577,221 who have simply loaded the game — roughly 7.6 percent.

For comparison, 22.8 percent have found the needle at least once. So the chapter filters out two-thirds of the players who already cleared a full haystack, and the puzzles are the reason.

If you are stuck, you are in the overwhelming majority. Work the steps in order and the chapter is mechanical rather than difficult — the trap is spending an hour on the key without realising the exit needs the puzzles too.
